The Future of tradition

We have increasingly started to talk about hemp with trade organizations and are beginning to reactivate a process of historical memory related to its production since the total eclipse of its cultivation in the late 1990’s.

Italy was the first hemp producer in the world at least until the 1940s when its production declined. The first Italian Law that normalizes the production of industrial hemp in all sectors concerned was passed in 2016. Various governmental initiatives such as circular Mipaf n.734 (2nd of December 1997) have made it possible to reintroduce hemp cultivation exclusively for textile and paper throughout Italy.

But what are the new usages of hemp?

The hemp is used in different sectors: from textile to bioarchitecture, from cosmetics to cartography, from phytoremediation to nutritional supplements.
